ASIA

It is amazing to me how many places all of you have been and what many of you have done. I have loved reading all of your blogs and I am excited to see what you do in Asia. My great grandparents lived in Asia for awhile and always spoke of it as the best place in the world. I know Asia is very large and you will not be able to visit it all but I hope that you all have chosen to go to different places. Have fun and please send pictures.

China
Dear Mrs. Garza, July 21, 2008

I am writing to you from China. It is very fun here. Today, I went to the market to buy fish, meat, and rice so that my mom could cook. My mom gave me 550 Yuan to buy them. In the market it was jam-packed with people. It was like being a human inside a mouse hole. I almost got stepped on. I also went to see the Great Wall of China. It was huge. It was like 5 times the height of the school. It was very impressive. Tomorrow my mom said that we would go sight seeing. Now, I am going to bed……ZZZZZ. PRING!!!!!.

Good morning. Today, I am going sight seeing. I hope we go to the Huang He River. My mom said that we could go, but it has to be last.

We rushed through our breakfast and got out of the hotel for a whole day of sight seeing. First, we went to the Silk Road. It looked very long. We went on it for a while, but then we got tired and left. It was a really dirty place. After that, we went to the Yellow River. It was really dirty. It looked like there was blood in the water. Last, we went to the Huang He River. It was very cool. I hope you enjoyed my letter. I miss you a lot. Sincerely,
Michael Arthur

Ohio! (that's hello in Japanese)
I’m in Japan! I’m having a great time too! They have all sorts of foods, but the two it’s famous for have to be Sushi and Pocky. Sushi is raw fish, vegetables, rice, and seaweed wrapped together. Pocky is a small breadstick dipped in chocolate or some other flavoring. I love it here! They have so many stores, and of course they have a McDonalds. I suppose that everyone knows that Tokyo is Japan’s capital. It’s a lot like New York City! Busy streets, bright neon signs, the chatter of crowds, its enough to make someone feel lost! The Japanese are also famous for their technology and anime. Most Americans don’t know what anime or manga is, they’re basically Japanese cartoons and comics! They use a lot of honorifics and call people by their last names, unless they know that person as a friend. For example, my friends would call me “McKenna-Chan” or “Kenna – Chan” san, or ne. Basically a girl’s name is ended with “chan” and a boy’s name is ended with ”kun”, generally they have nicknames like ”Bozu” is “squirt”. Japan has a constitutional monarchy, so they have an emperor, but he doesn’t do anything. As I said before, most of their economy is made up of Agriculture and Technology. Their money is called Yen.
Well, Sayonara! Seeya next time!
